It’s been nearly six months since the initial infection stemming from the impaction on the right side, and today I got ALL FOUR wisdom teeth out!
The laughing gas actually made me freak out really hard and cry, which apparently happens to some people. It probably didn’t help that I’ve never really had dental work done before so it was all totally unknown to me. The surgeon and nurses were all super great and really understanding, despite being a little frustrated and confused with my crying. They were wonderful about telling me what was happening each step of the way, even though they apparently don’t do that since most people like to just let it happen be over. Not knowing just terrified me so badly, so it was really helpful to know exactly what was happening, even if it was occasionally “Nothing new, pretty boring.”
Turns out that at least two of my wisdom teeth had roots that splayed out rather than going straight down. The one on my lower left was not only totally sideways, but had a root that *hooked* into the bone, and they took about three x-rays during the process of taking that one out alone. Luckily they had taken the gas off me and I’d calmed back down by that point, so I think I made it a little easier for them to do the toughest one.
I was a bit miserable and sickish for a few hours, but I’m back to feeling like myself again, if a bit numb in places. So gad it’s finally done with!!
